国际教育行业初来乍到的我可以给大家一个总结,依据PGCE课程第一篇论文,你眼中的国际学校到底是怎么样的?其实根据我对国际教育的理解,可以分为三个部分(按照重要程度): 教育理念、学校文化、课程体系。

何为国际学校?-What does international school means?

“ 国际学校” 这个名词在近5-10年的时间在中国迅速成为热搜词。中国的改革开放带动着一个个新名词的出现,国际教育就是其中之一,城市化的进程带动着对于中高端教育,海外教育需求的增加。当然这其中原因非常复杂,不仅有经济发展的原因,更存在着国内教育存在的许多弊端和局限。在许多家长眼中的国际学校到底是怎么样的?什么样的学校才能真正意义上的或者是货真价实的国际学校呢?这点值得我们每位家长深思。

教育理念-Education Philosophy

一个学校最基本存在的灵魂,就是其教育理念,这其中了就包括了学校想培养什么样的人?如何做到全人教育?这其中就有我们以前在公办学校经常提到的培养德智体美劳的学生,这也是学校的理念之一。

The most basic soul of a school is its educational philosophy, which includes what kind of people the school wants to cultivate? How to achieve whole-person education? Among them, we have often mentioned in public schools to cultivate students of moral, intellectual, physical, and artistic labor, which is also one of the school’s concepts.

在PECE的学习过程中,许多教育学家的论文都曾提到国际学校需要培养有国际化视野、国际化思想及在国际化的交流沟通能力。有家长会认为单纯的英文教育就是国际化,这种观念恰恰是错误的,英语只是交流的工具,真正从思想上和思维方式上的国际化才是真正的国际化,很可惜,国内有部分国际学校并没有这样的意识(这里没有评判任何一个学校好和坏的意思,每个学校都有自己的理念和特色)。国际化的理念形成我个人认为与创校人的教育背景和经历息息相关,越是有正确国际化教育理念的学校,创始人一定是受过西方高等教育的,并且自己个人的经历也是非常多样化的。反观,如果是单纯的公办出生或者说还是保留50-60年代思想的创始人,这个学校要么是个考试和刷题的学校,要么是一个没有国际化教育理念的学校,甚至是一个根本没有教育理念的学校。

On the other hand, if it is a purely public birth or a founder who still retains the ideas of the 1950s and 1960s, this school is either a school with exams and quizzes, or a school without an international education concept, or even a school with no education concept at all. ‘s school.

教育理念和培养出多少名校学子无关,不是所有人都适合读牛津剑桥,真正有价值的国际教育的理念是培养出有自信,有思想,有知识,有国际化视野的人才,而不是以进入多少评判一个学校的好与坏。

学校文化-School Culture

如果说教育理念是一个学校的灵魂,学校文化则是精神的体现。海外许多国际学校都强调Positive Education,在我一直认为积极教育的态度和学校文化前提是以人为本、互相尊重。如果老师受到尊重,那么这个学校的老师一定会很富有责任心;如果学生受到尊重,那么学校的学生的学习热情一定会被激发。这个时候,老师和学生一定会以这所学校以荣,学校也会以学生和老师为傲,积极教育在这样的前提下才会得到发挥。

国际化的学校文化应该是以包容各国文化为基础,无论老师和学生的肤色,国籍、宗教和习俗,都应该被理解和尊重。在学术方面,我们应该接受来自不同学生、老师的观点和看法,无论正确与否,都应该保持思想自由的学校文化,这样的学校文化才会引起人更深入的思考。

一个成功的国际学校应该是毕业了之后,所有学生都会怀念学校的文化和教育理念,应该以母校为荣,而不是想尽快逃离之。学校文化是一个学校的血液,是会一直伴随着每一个学生。

课程体系-Curriculum 

国际教育领域,目前以三大课程为主:A-level、AP和IBDP。从我的角度来看,IBDP课程更适合全人教育,当然,A-level也是国际课程的佼佼者,但是到了中国,就变了味,将A-level直接粗暴当作了中国高考的模式来对待,所以在国内我定义A-level的课程为“ 英国课程的本土化高考” 。其实国外高中很好的一些教育理念到了国内全部都变了味,变成了以成绩论的国际课程,10多万的学费可能换来的只是无止尽的考试,请问这样的教育价值何在?

成功的国际课程的实施,应该是以英语为基础,课程体系必须要与学校文化,教育理念进行融合,多文化,国际化思维的培养不是仅仅上了国际课程就能成功具备的。

The implementation of a successful international curriculum should be based on English. The curriculum system must be integrated with the school culture and educational philosophy. The cultivation of multicultural and international thinking is not something that can be successfully acquired by just taking an international curriculum.
