情人节英文怎么说？为什么不是Lovers' Day，而是Valentine's Day？

有个传说认为，瓦伦丁是公元三世纪时生活在罗马的一名牧师。罗马皇帝克劳狄二世认为，单身男子比那些有妻子和家庭的人更适合当兵，所以他颁布了法令，禁止单身男子结婚。

Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.

瓦伦丁意识到了这一法令的不公正性，反抗克劳狄的法令，继续秘密为年轻恋人举行婚礼。当瓦伦丁的行为被发现后，克劳狄下令将他处死。

According to one legend, an imprisoned Valentine sent the first “valentine” greeting after he fell in love with a young girl—possibly his jailor’s daughter—who visited him during his confinement.
